Family Involved Treatment can significantly increase the treatment/recovery outcome and is an important inclusion to the treatment process overall, for both the client and his/her loved ones. By providing family involvement throughout the treatment process, clients and loved ones alike have the ability to discuss in a safe forum any underlying issues that they may be facing within their families. This offers the opportunity for clients and loved ones to begin healing and working through their issues in order to move forward more positively in the future.
Clarity Way provides not only a forum for clients and their loved ones, but also works with each client’s loved ones throughout the treatment process to insure that they are kept updated with the client’s progress and included/informed about decisions regarding the client. The treatment team provides family-friendly case management, and a Lead Counselor is appointed to provide each family with updates a minimum of 2x per week, and more often as needed. Upon admission, it is requested that families appoint a key contact with whom the Lead Counselor can converse and pass along information that can then be disseminated to other family members. Seeking treatment is a huge step in the right direction for each client, however it’s important for the family to work in conjunction with the Treatment Team to understand and handle the rehabilitative needs of the client.
Each client meets the treatment process with his/her own ideas, needs and progress time. Once the client reaches an appropriate place in his/her treatment, the Treatment Team recommends that family integration and involvement go beyond phone calls, to a series of planned family conferences. We recommend and support on-site sessions, so that the family needs can be met with those of the client, in person. This aids in identifying family problems and working to encourage a parallel treatment process for the client and family. Upon identifying the key areas, the Treatment Team will make recommendations to the family as to how they can work on their needs.
The family is a part of the entire treatment process, including Aftercare planning. Aftercare is a crucial element to the recovery process, and it’s important that each client’s Aftercare Plan be comprehensive and tailored to their needs. Everything from where a client will continue with outpatient counseling to what meetings he/she will participate in post-treatment is scrutinized and planned by our Aftercare staff, working in tandem with each client. Relapse Prevention planning is an important element of the treatment process and aftercare planning, and families are provided information and education on how to look for signs/symptoms of an impending relapse so as to stop it before it happens. Our pro-active approach equips clients and their loved ones with Relapse Prevention education and makes possible the fact that relapse does not have to be a part of recovery. By coupling education with family involvement, the likelihood of long-term abstinence and recovery success is increased, making Family Involved Treatment an essential aspect of the recovery process.
